MELCA-Ethiopia is an Ethiopian Resident Charity Organization who works for a healthy ecosystem, vibrant culture and improved lives of communities in Ethiopia through developing and spreading innovative methods.

MELCA-Ethiopia secure financial support through its partner organization, Swedish Society for Nature Conservation (SSNC) entitled “Building the Resilience of Bale Communities and materializing adaption to climate changes through mobilizing the community for ecosystem rehabilitation and improving livelihoods” and located in Bale zone.  Accordingly MELCA-Ethiopia invites interested and competent applicants for the following post.

Position:-  Bale project Branch Office Coordinator

Minimum requirements:

  • Holding at least BSc Degree in the fields of Natural Science, Forestry, Environmental science, environmental management, or any other related fields from a recognized University.
  • Having a comprehensive understanding of sacred natural sites, community conserved areas and Biosphere reserve and their management plan
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in project coordination, community mobilization, IGA and conservation related works
  • Having training and experience in the area of natural resources management, ecosystem rehabilitation, biosphere resources, PFM, cooperatives and SHG and IGAs,
  • Having skills in the use of GPS and GIS technologies, mapping and excellent computer skill-word processing, Excel, power point, etc.
  • Experience in writing project reports in English, preferably reports to donors & stakeholders.
  • Experience of developing project ideas and writing concept notes and project proposals.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.
  • Good interpersonal skill and ability to work in team and independently including at times in challenging environment as well as having a coordination and team building ability.
  • Having NGO experience is an asset / advantage.

 

The place of work for the above position will be Dinsho Town, Bale Zone,

The following qualification is advantageous but not mandatory.

  • Knowledge of local language (oromiffa) is a requirement.

Remuneration: – Salary is negotiable.

Terms of employment: Full time contractual employment for one year with high possibility of renewal.
