March 8 Women International Day

The theme for International Women’s Day, 8 March, 2022 (IWD 2022) is, “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow”, recognizing the contribution of women and girls around the world, who are leading the charge on climate change adaptation, mitigation, and response, to build a more sustainable future for all.

International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day has occurred for well over a century, with the first International Women’s Day (IWD) gathering in 1911 and the date was fixed as 8 March in 1913. The day is celebrating for 111th in the world and 46th in Ethiopia.

To Contribute to Gender Equality and Women Empowerment MELCA-Ethiopia is working on Building Women and Girls Capacities in Various Interventions In all its projects.

The theme for International Women’s Day is aligned with the priority theme for the coming Sixty-sixth Commission on the Status of Women session (CSW66): “Achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls in the context of climate change, environmental and disaster risk reduction policies and programs”.

Backyard Gardening for Enhancing Agro-ecological Practices and Livelihoods of Women- Wereilu Project
