General Background
Movement for Ecological Learning and Community Action (MELCA-Ethiopia) is a non-governmental, not for profit making local civil society organization legally registered with the Agency for Civil Society Organizations. MELCA-Ethiopia has a vision to see healthy and prosperous people, who preserve their bio-cultural diversity, and the mission is focused on working for healthy ecosystems, resilient communities, and critical young generation through developing and institutionalizing innovative approaches and experiences. To realize its vision, MELCA-Ethiopia focuses on implementing four core programs Environmental Governance, Agro-ecology, Children and Youth Empowerment, and Eco-friendly Livelihoods Improvement Schemes all of which are employing gender as a cross cutting subject.
As part of the capacity development undertaking financed by the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, MELCA-Ethiopia wish to receive proposal from a competent and interested film makers company or broadcasting agencies, consulting firms and training institutions on the production of a documentary video and preparation of magazine on major achievements of MELCA-Ethiopia’s Programs and Projects interventions. In additions we seek to receive appropriate proposals on the installation of Microsoft outlook software based institutional system and providing training on the operationalization.
- Video Documentary Production
- Overall objective of assignment: The overall objective of the assignment is to produce, document and disseminate media format documentary video material and preparation of magazine of MELCA-Ethiopia’s programs and projects interventions related achievements, impacts, best practices, and stories of changes.
- Applicants are required to demonstrate that:–
- Have previous experience in making video documentaries on related issues, and to have undertaken relevant filmmaking (editing, photography, sound, light).
- Be a film maker company or a TV production company that should have extensive experience in producing public information video films.
- Experience in working with NGOs and/or international donors as well as in working with state institutions and CSOs in Ethiopia. And the film makers have to submit DVD samples of previous works.
- It is a legally registered and have a renewed license for the current fiscal year
- Duration of the Assignment: The consultant needs to prepare and submit schedule for undertaking the task.
- Location of the Assignment: Bale Zone in Oromia National Regional State, Majag Zone in Gambela Peoples Regional State, Sheka Zone in Southwest Ethiopia Peoples Regional State and in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
- Initialization of Microsoft Outlook System and Provide Training
- Overall objective of assignment: the purpose of the assignment is to install the appropriate Microsoft outlook application and train staff of the organization on its uses. The communication platform is expected to play a good role in facilitating virtual internal and external communications of the organization. It also serves in work flow management system of the organization.
- Applicants are required to demonstrate that:–
- Have a successful track record of handling similar tasks and IT Background.
- Capable of commanding a sufficient number of competent experts in the fields of the task assigned and related subject.
- Availing of competent female experts has the advantage of a 10% bounce point in the selection process.
- Duration of the Assignment: The consultant needs to prepare and submit schedule for undertaking the task.
- Location of the Assignment: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Accordingly, interested applicants may submit their technical and financial proposals in separately sealed envelope within 10 working days from the date of the appearance of this request for the proposal.
